“I was drawn to the history and music of the spiritual.  I continually strive to honor this art form by maintaining the essence of the original songs supported with varied rhythmic and melodic motives that will hopefully inspire the conductor, motivate the singer and satisfy the listener.”

He is manager, composer, clinician and arranger from Detroit, Michigan. Stacey’s music is published by Gentry Publications, Pavane Publishing, and National Music Publishers. His spirituals have been performed and commissioned by many college, university, and high school choral ensembles both domestically and internationally. Stacey’s music has been programmed at all state festivals, M.E.N.C. Festivals, The Choir of The World Festivals, regional and national ACDA conferences. His setting, “Way Over in Beulah Lan”, was performed at the 57th Inaugural Prayer Service in January  2013 with President Obama and family present. In the same month, he conducted the Wartburg Meistersinger Festival Chorus with the world renown soloist Simon Estes performing his setting “He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands”.
